Dunstall Park Greyhound Stadium has outlined plans to make this year’s Premier Greyhound Oaks the most attended in recent times – and has launched a free ticket offer to achieve it.

The UK’s most prestigious competition open exclusively to bitches will be held at the Wolverhampton venue for the first time in October as part of greyhound racing’s launch at the Gorsebrook Road venue.

And to celebrate its first Category One final, all racegoers will be entitled to free admission on finals night which is scheduled for Friday, October 24.

More than 600 racegoers have already pre-booked their free admission ticket, with the venue’s senior management team hoping to attract at least 2,500 people trackside on the night.

Leaflet drops, bus adverts, roadside digital advertising and news features across the city’s media outlets all form part of Dunstall Park’s promotional campaign ahead of the day.

Chris Black, General Manager at Dunstall Park Greyhounds, said: “The Premier Greyhound Racing Oaks is greyhound racing’s FA Cup final.

“It’s a competition of historical and cultural importance which has been won by some of the sport’s most recognisable names since it was first held in 1927.

“We’re proud to stage the Oaks as part of greyhound racing’s launch at Dunstall Park this autumn and want to make this year’s final an evening to remember for racegoers of all ages, both old and new.

“Many people in Wolverhampton may never have experienced greyhound racing before. So, this is our way of inviting them to enjoy a fun, family friendly, night out on us and we’re delighted with the initial response.”

Originally held at White City – host venue of the 1908 Summer Olympics – the Oaks originally held Classic status in the sport prior to the outbreak of World War II.

It has been held at Perry Barr Stadium in Birmingham since 2021 but will transfer to Dunstall Park as part of Arena Racing Company’s multi-million pound investment to launch greyhound racing on the infield of the existing horse racing track.

Chris added: “We’re proud to be at the forefront of the most exciting investment greyhound racing has seen in a generation.

“From outstanding hospitality and viewing facilities to our state-of-the-art kennelling and welfare provisions, Dunstall Park will help shape greyhound racing in the UK for years to come.

“The Oaks will showcase this, and we invite everyone to celebrate this year’s landmark renewal without dipping into their pockets.”
