Wolverhampton Racecourse are pleased to announce that they will be supporting The Haven Wolverhampton, a charity supporting women and children affected by domestic abuse, ahead of our Lady Wulfruna Race day this Saturday.
The Haven Wolverhampton supports women and children affected by domestic abuse and homelessness in the city of Wolverhampton. With 1 in 4 women being affected by domestic abuse in their lifetime in the UK and 2 women per week on average being killed by a current or former partner; having a safe, reliable, and confidential support services like The Haven is essential.
Every month The Haven takes over 1000 calls on our free helpline from women going through a really difficult time who are living in fear. We also provide legal, therapeutic, and financial support to the women as well as specialist support for their children to empower women to live independently and achieve their ambitions. We also provide emergency accommodation to women fleeing their abuser and support women living in the community making sure that she is safe and supported.
Having the support of local businesses such as Wolverhampton Racecourse is essential and helps ensure women and children can live without fear and safe from abuse. Every penny raised means a massive difference and means a woman and her child can begin a life free from abuse and means we can continue to provide vital lifesaving services to those at risk.
To help support The Haven’s fund raising efforts, Wolverhampton Racecourse have donated tickets to sell and raise much needed funding for the charity. As well tickets, the charity will have a number of bucket collectors here on the day.
